PANJIM: Ameya Audi, a student of RMS College, Margao, won the prestigious 5thLate Lcdr Gopal Sakharam Sukhthankar All-Goa Open Rapid Chess tournament, organized by the Parent Teacher Association of Mushtifund High School under the auspices of Goa Chess Association and Tiswadi Taluka Chess Associaitioon (TTCA), at Institute Menezes Braganza hall, here, recently.
Ameya scored an incredible 8.5 points of a possible nine points. He was awarded the championship trophy and Rs 4,000 by MLA of Panjim Constituency, Siddharth Kunkolienkar in the presence of Vinay Tendulkar (President of GCA), Kishore Bandekar (GCA secretary and Joint secretary of AICF), Flt. Lt. Maria Shanti Reveredo (Chairman, Mushtifund High School PTA), Aparna Chari (Headmistress), Vidhya Sangodkar (assistant Headmistress), Sandhya Pai (secretary, PTA), V Balakrishna (treasurer of TTCA), Arvind Mhamal (Arbiter), Dattaram Pinge, Sagar Agni, Antonio Mascarenhas, Laximan Amonkar, Sushant Redkar and other dignitaries.
The second place in open category was bagged by Wilson Cruz (7.5 points), while the young Women’s Candidate Master Swera Braganza (7.5points) secured the third place. Kambli Datta bagged the fourth place.
The other 16 prize winners were Anant Prabhudesai, Riddhi Zantye, Ridikesh Vernekar, Om Barde, WCM Gunjal Chopdekar, Brendon Peroz, Saiesh Audi,Aryan Raikar, Adv. P.M. Kantak, Alaina Pereira, Soham Naik, Sahil Shetty, Anurag Adwalpalkar, Mahesh Shetti, Eeshan Gad and Faiziya Khan respectively.
In U-15 age category, Vaibhav Pendnekar, Ayush Sanjeev Naik, Naroji Sanskriti Gaayathri S were the winners.
In U-13 age category, Harsh Bhobe, Siddhesh Marathe, Snehal Naik, Khushi Dhuri were the winners.
In U-11 category winners were: Harsh Dagare, Madhavan G, Tanvi Hadkonkar, Pratishtha Singh.
In the U-9 age category prizes were bagged by Aryan Naik, Pratik S Borkar, Aadya Gaitonde, Pradnya Upadhye.
In U-7 age category Joy Kakodkar, Love Kakodkar, Srilaxmi Kamat, Netra Savaikar bagged the top prizes.
The following players of Mushtifund High School were awarded special prizes: Vedant Pagi, Harishchandra Naik, Krishna Gaonkar, Siddhant Mahambrey, Sadanand Nagvekar.
